The rivers Clwyd, Dee, Conwy, Seiont, Dwyfor, Glaslyn, Mawddach, Wnion and Dyfi are the larger rivers, home of salmon and trout. These flow through peaceful scenic valleys, where one can relax and take a treat home for supper.

The numerous natural lakes of Snowdonia, Crafnant, Gwynant, Mymbyr, Padarn Tal y Llyn also have trout, while Cwellyn and Bala lakes are noted as the home of the and gwniaid an ancient species of fish.
There are also numerous natural and private coarse fishing lakes, while along the coasts bass, mackerel, rays, dog fish, pollock and bream can be caught off the rocks, with plaice, dabs founders and whiting off the shores.
